C180k Interior Water Leak?

Hi, Im the lucky owner of a C180 estate, '54 (facelift) model (though wifey drives it) thats causing me grief.

In the footwell behind the driver the carpet is soaked - closer to the centre transmission / driveframe tunnel & toward the rear seat rather than under the driver seat.

Water seems to be clear (and now musty smelling!)

Can anyone help identify the cause? Is there an air condenser outlet pipe or similar that route through here?

Don't know if it is related but it started after I had rear parking sensors retro-fitted.

Any help appreciated!
Cheers

No AC Pipes in the back. As it started after the parking sensors were fitted where did they run the cables through into the cabin. The water could be tracking along the wires.

Thx blobcat!

Hmmm...
No idea where they ran the wires into the cabin:confused:
Since it happens irrespective of weather conditions so we can rule out rainwater - does this mean the sensor fitting lunatics have probably drilled into something that holds/carries water? Rear windscreen washer pipes?

Is there any way of checking without removing rear seats & lifting carpet?
Cheers

Not really, however you could run the rear screen wash and see if it gets wetter. The seats are not very hard to remove and I doubt the fitters will have gone to any great trouble to hide the wires. Another unrealated possibility is that the rear screen wash pipe has an open joint.
On an aside since you have an estate and the back of the car is no greather than 12" from bottom of the the rear window why did you have sensors fitted?

If the sensors were fitted by an MB dealer, no holes are drilled since this is an option from new.

Thanks again Blobcat
Regarding why sensors fitted... well, wifey driving! ;)

Television - thanks - unfortunately, not fitted by MB dealer, but by a MB Direct recommended fitter. Never again!:x

Guess I'll just take the seats out and open Pandora's box..

Cheers for your help, appreciated:)
