C190 Cruise Control Problem

Any help would be appreciated. I have a 1992 C190E...

Its fitted with cruise control (tempomat) which has been unoperable since I purchased it last year.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

There are many components in this system and many mods, over the years
Maybe someone can say if it is outlined in the Haynes book.
