just purchased a c200 02 plate, one side of the climate control get really cold, but the drivers side doesn't, it also make a gas sound for awhile when you turn it on.
Hallo, Interesting ! The air con on my 2000 plate C220 CDI was weak on both sides. I got the system recharged at a cost of about £80. It worked fine for about three weeks and then started to fail again on both sides (ie it wouldn't cool below ambient). It also started making what you describe as a "gas sound". Ie the sound of gas escaping. I've just had it checked again and I'm told that the air con condenser has a leak in it (This is the one part of the air con not covered by the warranty I purchased !!). Hope this isn't the problem in your case because it is going to cost about £400 to fix. Hopefully the fact that your air con is still working on one side means that it is a plumbing problem rather than the air con unit.
