I have just bought a 2002 C200. The front right turn indicator light does not work. The bulb is OK. Does anyone know the location of the relay for this bulb and also does anyone know how to remove the headlamp cluster.
Thanks

C Class turn indicator design flaw

The bulb for the C Class turn indicators is mounted in a screw-in holder with two small contacts that align with contacts in the headlight assembly to provide the power. This is a known design flaw (according to my friend at Mercedes Hertford) and the contacts often burn out causing damage to the removable lamp holder (which is cheap to replace) and the headlight assembly (which is not!). Mercedes Hertford are replacing 'loads' of headlight assemblies because of this damage, at £200 a time. I refused to pay this, so, I've patched some wires into the headlight assembly from the umbilical that connects it, bypassing these contacts (with his help to identify the right wires). It all works perfectlt - for the cost of a new lamp holder, some 8 amp wire and a soldering iron. Email me if you need to know how to do this at martin.connolly2@ntlworld.com
