C200k 2002 - Xenon grating noise

I've got a C200k 2002, with xenons. When I start the car first time in the morning, a loud whirring - infact more like grating - noise can be heard from inside!! I've listened very carefully and have traced the noise to the passenger side xenon swivelling into action. As the engine heats up during the course of the day, the noise disappears.

My garage says that this is "NORMAL" I can't believe that!! :x For my wife has a nissan almera with xenons, they DON'T make that noise!!!

So is this normal???

Does it do this if the lights are off? if it does it's not the lights. If it does this as you switch the lights on it sounds like the motor for the range adjustment is jammed or just noisey and no its not normal.

If it isn't the lights and the noise is only from cold. There is quite a loud noise on this engine it is caused by the secondary air injection at startup (almost sounds like the exhaust manifold is blowing) this is normal but shuts up after about 30 seconds.
