Hi All,
I have just bought a new C200K, and I want to install a cd-changer, does the car come with any pre-wiring for a cd-changer so I can install one myself. My dealer has quoted me £600 to install one.
thanks
not that this helps much. but I had a SLK 200 in 2002. I purchased the becker CD multi changer from a site on the web for about £360. it came with the optical lead. a local audio speclist fitted it for £60 as it didnt have any pre-wire like the US spec SLK had. I had a quote of £90 for fitting from another audio specialist for fitting.
the local MB dealer wanted £560 for the changer and about £200 for fitting.
I would guess it isnt too difficult to find a route for the wiring as long as you have the correct cables. Even if you install the changer and lay the cables but cannot get to the head unit, a audio specialist will connect it for a fee. either way it will be cheaper than the MB dealer. Its not very good when you order a new car and the CD changer is only a £300 option. where do they find their prices.
most car audio firms will advise you on a price for fitting and also purchase prices for the correct unit. all will be cheaper than MB.
