I have a 203 C180 Coupe with heater problems. I have bought a new heater control panel but it obviously goes in from the back of the centre dash panel below the radio. I seem to remember a thread about how to release the centre panel ( there are no obvious screws ) but I can not now find it. Does the gear lever surround ( manual) have to come out first. Any help appreciated.

Heater panel -

Thanks for that - brilliant info. Bid of feedback - I found I could easily change this panel without first removing the airvents. The dash panel will pull away enough at it's lower edge to extract the heater control panel backwards, although you do need to release it using a thin flat blade on it's clips. Looking into this fault I looked for a 'Duo-valve' but could only find a motor driven water pump controlled by the heater panel, this seemed to run with hot was called for and stop on cold, is this a later system or am I still not finding an actual 'on/off valve' somewhere buried in the engine bay?
