Hello all

I have a 2018 C Class coupe and for over a year now, It's had an issue with the boot not opening/closing properly. It's powered and usually would open all the way with the key/driver door button and also the kick under the boot, however, it only opens I would say around 10 inches. To get it to open all the way it requires a few goes at the keyfob or holding the driver door button up a second time. The same for it to close, driver door button will take it down to about 10 inches then you need to release and reapply the button for it to close.

I've checked the wiring, all wires seem to be intact (5 of them from what I've read and seen). The only other thing I've read it may be is the safety system kicked in to stop it closing/opening all the way (perhaps because it was manually stopped at some point in the past).

My question is, has anyone experienced similar and found a fix that doesn't require a trip to the dealer. If it's some sort of safety feature that can be reset without a trip to the dealer that would be ideal :D.

I have already checked the car and the setting is definitely set to open fully. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried lubrication?
Hinges seizing up can be enough resistance to activate the anti-trap mechanism or the motor overload.
