- 2015 E400 Convertible (C207 3.5 version)
Hello all. Hoping to find some pointers/advice for what has become a total headache of a car.
Purchased a 2015 C207 E400 last March (3.5 version). It had 39k miles. It has been serviced according to schedule, although not all at Merc dealers. I have continued this and in the year have covered 9k miles.
- April 2023 - Broke down, fuel pump failed and had shaken itself loose according to the garage.
- July 2023 - Amber EML appeared but car ran fine, went away after a long run. Over the next few months it would return, usually when crawling in heavy traffic but would clear after a good run
- December 2023 - Amber EMP returns but would not go away. Garage diagnosed faulty pre-Cat NOX sensor which was replaced along with a software update
- 2 days later EML returns. Garage claims to have done more software work.
- 2 days later EML returns. Garage perform another software update, take car run with computer plugged in. No NOX faults but say an oxygen sensor has ‘anomalies’ which would not throw an EML. They take car on test runs and no issues.
- 1 mile after leaving garage - EML returns. Booked back in next week.
It is approaching 1 year with the car and in that time it has been in the garage for 6 weeks (most of that time being after its breakdown). Luckily I purchased a warranty which has so far saved me c.£1,500.
At my wits end. While there is no mechanical fault and the car is drivable it is very very frustrating and I want this properly resolved. Why is it proving so difficult to cure? I would not have expected emission sensor issues on a petrol and am very very disappointed with the Merc. Previously owned two Alfas over 8 years, the last being a Brera Prodrive I sold with 150k miles. It was a stunner, fantastic to drive and never gave any trouble at all. Completely regret selling it. I want to cut my losses and sell this lemon but how can I sell a car that cannot manage 1 mile without throwing an EML?!
Has anyone else with an E400 had issues similar to this? How was it resolved? Alternatively is anyone into BDSM and fancies buying a car that’ll punish them nonstop?
