I have today been left in a bit of problem.

The battery on my C220 appears to have gone flat (i think) so I thought I would pop the bonnet and swop the battery.

As i always have, pulled the bonnet release handle and the bonnet sounded like it popped. Went to front of the car and the plastic handle was out the grill. Pulled as I always do, put the catch will not release :(

I am now in the catch 22 situation that I need to get the dealership to replace bonnet catch, but have a flat battery so can't get to dealer

I am at a loss how to get this catch free

Have someone press down on the front of the bonnet while you pull the handle.

Interesting, someone said that in Halfords tonight.

However, mine is a 2003 plate.

Well after a lot of work I have managed to get into the bonnet, however the main handle has snapped off. Being plastic I presume the recent cold weather has made it very britel.

I've managed to close it, so at least it's secure, but looks like i've got to take it into local dealership to get it seen to. PITA!

Nothing as such. Lovely car infact and to date has never let me down (just coming upto 4 years - http://www.faceparty.com/gallery/view.aspx?pid=2220505&gid=0&gpos=0&iid=6362205&pos=1#view ). I will be going back to MB for my next car.

However, i've very surprised that the bonnet handle is plastic. This now snapping means I can't get into the engine. Therefore, I need to go to dealer to get this changed/repaired :(

All of the handles of the same now, they can fit it in 5 mins, only 1 screw.

You need someone pressing down on the front of the bonnet in the center front to ease the presure,, that should do it

I have the same problem, the dealer offers only the # 2038870427 that not fit to 2001 C320 or we need to change the whole lock set (about $60) I find one store that seems has the exact # will check with you later.
