hi guys,we have replaced the cylinder head gasket on the above mercedes but we are confused with timing marks on the crankshaft,as auto data doesn't seem to show them clearly and can't seem to be able to see anything obvious on the car.we haven't marked it up ourselves as we had suspicion that timing might have jumped as there was a bent exhaust valve.

any help would be appreciated.

I have stripped it all down again, but cannot see any marks on the engine block for the crank set up,this has turned into a nightmare job! I don't really want to try to guess it as it's quite a job taking everything apart and putting back together!

All done now,got no.1 cyl on TDC again, which is nowhere near how it is on the picture, the notch is way off to the right of the water pump sitting at 2'oclock.

Put it all back together, still running lumpy, got it on diagnostics, reprogrammed injectors and off it went, smooth as!

still seems to be running a bit lumpy,my guess is something to do with injectors,as the car has done 175k and they looked quite dirty,so hopefully this will clear after it has been driven for a while.thanks for your help along the way Sir!
