I was wandering if anyone knew where i could purchase either an uprated Intercooler for the car listed above or is it a worth while economic repair

Its on a 51 plate and has had a chip fitted to alter fueling and boost . My standard unit has split resulting in a loss of power etc

Anyplace that can weld aluminium should be able to repair a split?
Plenty of uprated ones available for motorsport purposes, problem will be getting one to fit your car, repair probably best way to go.

I saw your post on benzworld or MBworld and almost answered there,, but you are here now. As fr065 there is no problem in welding alli up,, there are car breakers and things like this do sometimes come up on Ebay

Sorry Television i`m afraid that's not me that posted up in either benzworld or MBworld this is the only Merc site i belong to .

Ali welding is no problem for me as i run a welding shop in an Aluminium Smelter but looking where the air is coming from leads me to believe that the End can crimps have failed and they look more like plastic than Ali . Also i have tried to repair Nissan sx Inter coolers which had failed in that area but was unsuccessful

So i thought to post here see if anyone might be able to point me in the direction of an upgraded replacement before i remove the old one as the car is still running but no more than 3000 rpm

I've seen this before on a Renault 5 Turbo, the intercooler was fine for stock boost pressure, but when chipped, the ends would blow off the intercooler as they were crimped on too.

Intercooler located at a company called Sercks for £154 plus Vat

Car now pulling like a train
