C220 cdi egr delite

Hi I've got a 2006 c220 cdi auto I'm going to get a remap next week and the guy doin it has asked of I want my egr valve deleting is this a good idea as I'm not currently havin any problems with it is it just a case of deleting it then unplugging the wire from it ?

You’re very welcome. It’s an integral part of the car’s anti pollution measures. It’s an MOT fail if found removed and it’s illegal to remove.

Are we talking dpf or egr here?
Dpf tinkering is against regulations, but I was not aware that egr tinkering fell into the same category.

AIUI they fall into exactly the same category. I seem to remember EGR being added in last year.

As a matter of interest should remapping be declared to the DVLA as its a change to performance.

It’s not a change to the homolgated condition of the car though. One “could” make the same argument for Shell V-Power or Duckhams Hypograde ;)

Thanks. I think that's right after looking at the DVLA website. I was thinking of when an engine was changed to a larger one, 1.3 to 1.6 etc.

Legally you should declare a remap to your insurance, although most won't increase the premium. If the ecu has a flash counter and they check it it can invalidate the insurance.
