C220 cdi injectors

Hi all, my 2002 C Class 220 CDI (80,000 miles) went into MB this morning for a B service and to look at a fault with lumpy tickover, they have just called me to inform me the injectors are faulty and need replacing (£820+vat!!). When the car is driving it seems to show no signs of having a problem, only on tickover and up to about 1200rpm it is really lumpy. Have ran a can of quality fuel cleaner through it and it improved for a week or so and now the problem is back. EGR seems to operate ok but could this need cleaning?. Would welcome any advice.

If they are the same as the sprinter (same engine). I have 4 brand new ones i don't need, that stand me at about £500 INC vat. do let me know if they might be of help.

Injectors

Hi Rob, have just been on United Diesels website and I cannot seem to match part numbers. The part number I have from MB is A613 070 068780. If they match your part numbers, I could well be interested.

These injectors can be repaired. I've had two done on a Sprinter, the latest was £185+vat including diagnosis, removal, overhaul, refit. I'd expect about £500 should do the complete four from a diesel injection specialist.

Remember the garage might be "at it". Maybe there's only one or two faulty. Ring around and ask for some quotes.

Injectors

Hi all thanks for your input. The print out from MB's computer shows 3 injectors reading -5.2mm3/hub whatever that means but it reccomends once you reach that level injectors should be replaced. In the meantime I will contact BLACKC55 for his input.

That value means the injected quantity is out of spec. These injectors should be replaced.

C220 Injectors

Hi, thanks to all for their comments re my problems. The car went into Prestige Car Service for 3 new injectors. This has resolved the problem, car now running as normal. Thanks to Oliver at Prestige for an efficient and more economical resolution to my problem. He provided good advice and friendly reliable service.
