c220 cdi
Hi,
can anyone help me out, i have a c220 cdi 6 speed manuel. Yesterday the car lost power and would'nt rev over 3000rpm, we just made it home when a friend said it could be the air mass meter. He also said that by disconnecting the battery it sometimes resets itself to which i done.I reconnecded the battery and the wipers, indicators, central locking and fuel gauge failed to work and the computer was flashing up 2 malfunctions one saying the anti-skid control. I checked all fuses but all seem to be ok. Since then the car now wont start, not even the key will go in to actvate the ignition, it seems to have shut down, battery is ok and the head lights work fine. Is there a way of resetting it . Has anyone got any ideas.
Thanks

Find out if any of your local Mercedes dealers are part of the "Mercedes To You" set up. There is one near me & they say they will come to your home and connect your car to STAR, do a safety check of brakes etc etc, and quote you for any repairs they think are required, all free & with no obligation.

Your friend was wrong, and, disconnecting batteries on some cars can have nasty consequences with blown SAMs. It does sound a lot like thats what you've done. I hope not, but there's no reset procedure (aside from the ESP but at the moment, that's the least of your problems).

For future reference, simply turning off the engine is enough to clear an engine management 'safe mode'. If it doesn't clear with that, it won't clear until the fault has been fixed - and normally if it comes up once, it will re-occur with increasing frequency as something is failing.

Nothing more can happen by disconnecting again, leaving it for ½ hour and joining up again, do not do this with the key in then ignition. If it still will not accept the key leave the key in for up to 90 mins to see if it will turn
