I have a broken front coil spring on my 2007 facelifted (not sure of model number) C220 CDI Sport.
Has anyone changed one of these and if so are there any likely pit falls? I have changed springs on other cars but have read somewhere that standard spring compressors are not up to the job.
Any tips and torque settings would be very much appreciated.:D

IMHO having changed springs several times on various models of car with over the counter spring compressors I've had little trouble when using 3 compressors (Hook and studding type) so investing in some quality ones might be wise.

The 203 has a large top hat on top of the strut, also has a ring nut which needs a tool to undo it.....its not a run of the mill spring to change.......

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Starting to think i might just take it to the garage. Can't afford to have the strut out and no way of changing the spring. Been quoted £140 a side.
