Hi all,
I have had a problem over the last week of my front mono wiper was slowing down when in the vertical position but this morning when raining I had them on intermittent wipe and suddenly it started parking @ about 30 degrees. when I got home I took off the turtleshell cover and greased the rods first with a spray silicon grease ( to reach where normal greas won't) and then with a normal grease. I then tried them again and they ran ok but are still parking at 30 degrees, it looks like something has slipped somewhere. Is there a way to adjust this or do I have to strip out all the mechanism. Any help will be greatly appreciated.:confused:

Hi Television,
Nice to hear from you again, you helped me about a year ago when I replaced the wiper motor. Yes the sweep is fine, not overlapping on either side it's as it should be. It parks about 6 inches up and when I switch the wipers back on it finishes the rest of the travel and then wipes completely normal and parks again about 6 inches up.

yes it will be the nut at the motor end. just reposition the arm and tighten. we get a lot of these after the frosts, lazy people cannot be bothered to de-ice first!

Thanks Malcolm, Dec and Alexander I will give adjusting the nut a try. Was hopeing to sort it out today but it hasn't stopped raining. It's a pity you can't get at that nut without taking out the whole mechanism but even if you could I don't think that you could get at the lever that you have to prise up to release the wiper arm to re-adjust.
I am grateful for all your help ,I'll let you know as soon as I get an hour without rain to sort it out. (If this is the long hot Summer we were forcaste back in March god help us in Winter!)

Micheal, it might be possible in theory to adjust without removal of the mechanism but in practise you don’t know which nut needs adjusting or indeed if the short motor arm is lined up correctly with the V mark.

Do things in the following sequence;
1…Turn wiper on at the stalk
2…Turn wiper off at the stalk, the wiper motor will go back to its park position and so finishes its cycle, it is then parked. (The short motor arm at Nut 2 should be in line with the V mark, if it is not then adjusting it by slackening it at Nut 2.and line it up with V mark and retighten)
3… Remove key from ignition
4…Remove mechanism and make adjustments so as things appear as in picture

All of the above can be done without unplugging the motor wiring plug; I know it is difficult to access it as it is not easy to get at the back of the fuse box.

Hi all,
Dec you were spot on, it was the nut at the motor end that needed adjusting it was about 40 degrees out. I re-aligned it and it pulled the wiper back into position with the marks lining up bang on. I realised that some of the links to a previous thread with pics were my old thread when I replaced the motor with the disintegrated nylon thread. Nice to see that thread is still being useful. Well off to start a new thread as I've got a couple of more problems one with the BAS/ESP light coming on (shorted the switch out but still comes on with the switch shorted) and whatever holds the bulb units in place inside on of the headlights isn't so the headlights vacuum adjustment does virtually nothing on that light.

Once again thank you all for your help this really is a cracking forum and it's great to see that people still take the time to help.
All the very best.:)

Thanks for the feedback Mike, your own picture input regarding the striped nylon gears is invaluable in explaining that particular fault and what can go wrong with the motor, that’s what the site is all about.
