Does anyone have experience of the C-class c220 cdi auto?
Just wandering how the performance is?

Which one - are you referring to the current one?

If so, I found the performance to be good. Not breathtakingly fast but it never felt slow and was very comfortable crusing on the Motorways.

Economy was very good. Easily over 40 mpg despite me driving it quite hard.

Mine is a March 04 Classic SE. C220CDI. with 12K on the clock, other than a reoccurring fault the car is great to drive, economy is good and IMO it looks as good as any of the Merc's out there.
I will not sour your enthusiasm with comments about the dealer but I will say be careful which one you use. Go and talk to the service department and generally make sure your happy to give your custom.

Hope you find what your looking for

Had been offered a huge spec C220CDi yesterday and had toyed with swapping my clk430 for it - obvious running costs advantage

You don't do things by half - v8 to 4 pot diesel!!
You'll certainly notice the difference in your pocket and under your right foot. I drove the E220 cdi and was surprised at both the refinement and performance. I was expecting an underpowered tractor and found it quite sweet lively. I went for the 270 in the end as I wanted something quicker than average, but wouldn't have been unhappy with a 220. Sure it won't set the tarmac alight like the 430, but its 'sufficient' for normal use and should be even better in the lighter C.

The C220CDI had a list of £36500 when new:
AMG bodykit, 18" AMG alloys, zenons, BOSE, heatd seats, glass sunroof, parking sensors, top of range climate control, cd changer, full grey leather, silver mettallic, avantgarde se,

So pretty loaded. May go for shot in it
