C220 Cuts Out

Hi all

My wife?s ?94 C220 has developed an intermittent cutting out problem. As she reduces speed to turn into her office, the engine just cuts out, without warning. After a few cranks it re-starts, and she can continue.

There are no warning signs like a splutter, it just cuts out as she reduces speed. It has not happened at cruising speed.

The car is well maintained and regularly serviced. I would really appreciate advice on this.

C220 Cuts Out - Please help

Looking at some past posts I came across a similar problem that was diagnosed as a faulty crankshaft sensor. Would anyone care to comment on this?

What is a crankshaft sensor, and where is it located. Can I change it at home, or is it a specialist service item?
