:x Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I have a 1996 C220 diesel. I appear to have no power on acceleration(wont go above 3000 rev) and it takes 3-4 seconds for the car to shut off when I turn off the key. The diagnostics showed that the air intake temperature sensor is faulty and the injection pump shut-off valve is faulty. I replaced the air temperature sensor for ?20 but made no difference.

Does anyone know anything about this shut-off valve in the injection pump. Is is easy to fix.
What type of diesel pump is in this car.

There is no air mass meter in this car. Is there any other reason why I would have poor acceleration.

Thanks

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem and diagnostics with my C220 from 1996. Do you have (in the meantime) new information on how to solve this problem ?

Thanks,
Erwin

Shut off valve

Dont know wether it is the same shut off valve as on the c250 td, replaced mine. as it was leaking fuel.It is oblong and black under the pump, and held on by two bolts. Not to bad to do, but expesive too replace ! £ 80

Is the c 220 turbo intercooled ? if so check all pipes are held on thight by the jubilee clips, I had the bottom one under the radiator (intercooler pipe) come undone, and had no power at all, that happened after if came out of a Merc main dealers for lack of power ! I only noticed that when I took the bottom plastic sound deadener off, the jubilee clip was not even done up.

Hence the only mechanic I trust is myself ! I have yet to find a garage, main dealer or otherwise, that is not a rip off merchant !
