C220 Estate retracting shelf rattle

We are having problems with an incessant rattle from the retracting shelf that covers the luggage space in our Estate.

The rattle only occurs when the shelf is extended and has been getting worse. The car has been back to the dealer several time, the latest being today. We have had two replacement shelves and the dealer says that they have two further cars with the same problem.

Has anyone else come across this problem and if so have they managed to get it cured?

Any help would be appreciated,please.

Sorry, but been there done that with my wife's 2003 C-Class estate: rear shelf rattles and wobbles and the dealer cannot cure it: it is a 'characteristic' of the car, they say.

Also, they changed the shelf due to it changing from light grey to pale yellow over the course of a year...
