Hi guys, I have been reading through various threads about some problems I am having amd was starting to think that they might all be tied in somehow.
My car has covered 95k has full service history and is due a service in a couple of hundred miles.
The little things that I have noticed over the last 1000 miles or so are
Heater not as hot as usual
Engine running cooler than usual, presumed the two were related.
Fuel consumption on a run dropped from high 40s mpg to low/mid 30s mpg
Felt the car was slightly less responsive but had power all the way through the range.

On the way home yesterday there was a few times where the rev counter was a bit erratic and there seemed more gear changes than usual usually down shift.

Today very little power car feels restricted it will rev to 3000 in neutral but when driving usually shifts gear, it's auto, before 2000 revs. Presume this is safe mode?

Do these things point to one thing or am I about to be facing a hefty service and repair bill.
Haven't had a chance to see if the lights are effected or get any diagnostics done on it yet.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks John.

A diesel
If the temperature gauge is reading low it needs a thermostat, for the low power and increased number of gear changes I suspect the MAF is reading low, but it could be the ECU has selected limp home mode due to other reason.

Oh Oh!!

My car has gone in for a service now and to hopefully get it running properly now.
I have been told that the fault codes (not sure exactly what the code numbers were) are pointing to the DPF which is a rather expensive bit of kit. I've been quoted just under £700 from Mercedes for the part. Still haven't got the car back.

Piggy bank is gonna feel this one.
