Hi!

I've bought the CLK's rims with 205/55R16 in front and 225/50R16 in the back and I don't know which pressure should I use.

I have a C220 CDi Touring '99

Can anyone help me?

I have a c200, and on the petrol filler cap it states:

30 on fronts
33 on rear

Hope that helps.

pdz,

If you want a perfect way to find the tyre pressure then try this:-
Put a chalk line across the tread on each of the tyres and drive a short distance say 200yds or until part of the chalk line disappears. It should disappear at either both edges (under inflated) first or in the centre (over inflated) Adjust the pressures and retest until the line disappears evenly across the tyre. That will be the 'perfect' pressure and may not be consistent to all tyres - this is to be expected. Once you know the perfect pressure you can adjust this up to no more than +/- 4psi to get a sporting or comfort ride respectively.
Someone will say 'what about the preset camber affecting the line'. But if you consitently have one side still showing then get an evenly disappearing line. One last thought - do this on a straight bit of road with the least amount of road camber.

Alternatively, use the pressures stated on your filler cap and adjust down by 2psi for every 25mm increase in width. Thereafter, adjust to preference.

Thanks for your post. I cannot use the pressure stated on the filler cap because it's related to 195/65R15 and as I mentioned before I have 205/55R16 in front and 225/50R16 in the back.

The chalk technik seems to be pretty good.

Pdz,

I realise the difference in tyre size but I don't think you'll find that the pressures for the two sizes will be substantially different. It'll be a good starting point.
