Hello

I've got a C220 (2002) W203.

Its got the Audio 10 Single CD player fitted. Does anyone know what the yellow wire that has a black stripe on it does. I believe it connects in position A3.

Is it the ignition wire, that turns the head unit on / off with the key?

Thanks

Not quite sur what you are asking, OK you say that this wire is loose, is it all working, and is there a plug on the end

Hi

The audio 10 unit is working perfectly.

The thing is I got a Nokia Bluetooth kit that I shall wire into the car. It only needs the positive and negative wires to work. However it does have a third wire that can be connected. This third wire needs a power source that is connected to the ignition.

So if I connect all three wire for the bluetooth kit, it shall turn on and off with the car.

If I only connect the two wires (positive and negative) then it shall still work, but shall auto power off after 20 seconds if no mobile phone has paired with it.

I read a guide online on another W203 owner who is in america and he said that the yellow coloured wire, which has a thin black stripe on it is connected to the ignition. I just wanted to confirm this is the case with UK cars too.

Here is a pdf that shows the connections for the head unit and the yellow/black wire is located at 'A3'

Here is the guide to installing the bluetooth kit

You could do better than that I think by connecting up to the cigar lighter, for your switchable 12v that would also work on key 1 as well as 2, what do you think

i'll wire it to the cigar lighter instead.
Do you know how to get to the wiring as I had a look at it and couldn't seem to see how to get that part out.

I removed the trim that goes around the gear selector and ash tray.

Could not see how to remove the cigar lighter section that would expose the wires.

Thanks television, I recieved it.

I feel silly now, but I meant to ask you if you had the paper that shows how I would remove the part where the cigar lighter is.
The reason I need to remove that part is so I can get access to the positive and negative wiring that goes to the cigar lighter.

Sorry for the confussion, and thanks again for taking the time to send me the other pdf.

Thanks

Pretty sure that the yellow wire is the mute wire for the tephone kit to be connected into the radio.

Hi Malcom.

I am in the process of doing exactly what this post is about, taking an ignition live from the cigar lighter for my Parrot bluetooth.
Could you please forward to me the instructions how to remove centre console/cigar lighter to access the wires.

Many thanks.

Mark
