C230 non starter diagnostic codes

I have a 1997 C230 that has died.
It turns over but will not fire. I had a mate do a diag on it and the following showed up
HFM/ME2 Sequential fuel injection
EA/CC/ISC El Acc/cruise
cnt/idle speedo
Before the diag I changed the fuel pump relay ( second hand ) and took the pump off and it checked out ok.
Can anyone throw any light on this please.
I have recoded the key I think by taking battery off a etc but that didn't work.
Rang local Merc dealer to try to get info but they weren't interested as they hadn't done the diag.

It could be a number of things really, need to have it put on a star machine and see what the live data is showing while trying to start it!

Did it breakdown whilst driving? Or did it just refuse to start after being left for a while?

It had cut out a few times previous but started again no problem.
This time I was driving and it just cut out never to even try to start.
The red and green lights on the mirror flash while trying to start, is this normal.I mention this as someone said these immobilisers cause problems.

if red and green lights are flashes the immobiliser active!

That model was prone to immobiliser problems, check out immobiliser problems on the search facility on here also possible CPS Crankshaft position sensor..
