C230 Sluggish after Camshaft Sensor Change

I own a 2003 C230 Sports Coupe and recently experienced the engine warning light coming on.

Local dealer diagnosed this as a fault in the Camshaft Sensor and replaced.

Car is now feels sluggish under acceleration and kick down seems to give increased revs and change in engine noise but no great boost in acceleration like it used to. (People used to comment that you could really feel a jerk in the neck when kickdown was used).

I'm afraid I not much of a mechanic, so all advice welcome! It just doesn't drive like it used to.

After replacement of the Hall effect crankshaft sensor it has to be set up on a Star diagnosis system, otherwise it will be way out on timing.

Apologies for my inexperience, I gather then from your reply if they have not tuned the timing prperly this could cause the sluggish performance and lack of supercharger boost?

Yes, the whole engine will be way off tune, more so with a turbocharger.
the new sensor has to be set to the engine ECU .

usually you have to set the correct gap, unsure about the need to set up on star, but is not the case with most, the sensor senses the position of the camshaft, normally a cut out in the sprocket, so can't see what can be 'set up' It may be a case of the ecu having to re-adapt to the new parts after adapting to a faulty unit. take it back to the dealer?
