Hi everyone, I am new to this Forum. I have a MB C240 petrol and next week it goes in for it's 50K miles service at the MB dealership. I did serve my apprenticeship as a mechanic on trucks, long ago, however, I have no idea what parts are likely to be replaced by MB in a 50K service. Any ideas ?

is it an A or a B service do you know?

At 50k I would expect plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil and, if it needs them, pads and disks. It seems they try to get you on disks every service these days (that's garages in general, not MB in particular).

I'm sure some of the other guys here, who are much more knowledgable than me on such things, will confirm if this is right.

If you are getting it done at an MB dealer it will be around £700.

Hi and welcome, you have found a great site to advise you, someone will soon let you know what to expect at the dealers.
I use a very good indie in Glasgow, You would probably save half going to a good indie.

Thanks guys for the info, my dilema here is, I have 6 months warrenty left on the car, so I have to get the service done at MB, or the warrenty is void, so looks like I have no choice but to take the hit this time. In future, most running repairs will be done at home. 2 easy questions that you guys out there can probably answer easily, is there a workshop manual available for sale anywhere, and this may sound rather stupid, how do you remove the top plastic cover that covers the engine, on the C240 V6 ?? Y reg, new shape.

not a daft question, I have never actually removed mine! I think there are just clips but I wouldn't garantee that.

BTW, dont forget your car will have 12 spark plugs and apparently they are a real bugger to get to at the back.

Without wanting to sound too much like an MB salesman you really should look into a ServicePlus contract.

I don't think in all the years on MB ownership, I've ever had a serpentine belt changed. Sure they can go, but I've certainly had over 100k and a lot of years out of one. Our '95 C class is still on it's original, as was our 150k E280 so unless it looks worn I'd leave it.
On the pads, the C class is the normal procedure as far as I know.
