Hi New here.
I am looking to buy a C240 sport Estate 1999 model.
It has 106,000 miles with service history looking at it the body work looks in good nick but was just wondering what the 2.4ltr engines are like.
My brother has the c180 version which is great but will the 2.4 be alot juicier on petrol???
Also is there any other things i should look for???
Cheers
Eliot

The 240 is a lovely sweet engine, but yes, as with all V6's it does drink a bit. That said, the C180 is a tad under powered and also drinks as a result. Expect 2-3 mpg less out of the 240.

Iv'e got C280 a 99' sport auto est and yes it's pretty gutsy I think I'm getting roughly 25-8 (town) and up to 35 (open), but again really depends on how you drive as well all know.

But never the less a lovely car, you wont (shouldn't) go wrong with it, I know with the 2.8 there's bag's of power (about 180hpish). Then again my old Saab turbo (2.3 fp manual) was quicker at 200 hp, but it's a slightly lighter chassis to pull.

the 280 comes in at 193 or 197 bhp dpending on where you read it. I believe the 240 isin the region of 160-170, but no doubt someone will put me right on that.
One of my oppos has one and thinks it is a lovely sweet, smooth and powerful engine.
