seems very low. I did better with my E240 - 35 on a run and 22-26 round town. i guess it depends on where you are driving and when but that does seem very low. Do check your tyre pressures and try changing your driving style - let the car coast more and use the brakes less.

I went from Derbyshire to Minehead and back yesterday, which I do about 6 or 7 times a year. Somehow, I managed to get exactly the same mileage to litres in my 18 yr old Carlton GSi shed (3.0 petrol) as I normally do in my E300 Turbodiesel. Should I be annoyed?

I'm hoping it has something to do with a bunged up EGR valve which is coming off the engine tomorrow. Either that, or the MAF sensor that I have just replaced, but not yet tried...

By the way, the GSi was reporting 28.6 mpg average.

I've got a C200k and the mpg is not good IMHO but, to be fair, I'm only doing 8-10 miles to work and back per day. I'm trying the "turn the air con" option at the moment to see how it improves.

ive seen the boy clarkson do this recently on top gear and found that every car he did over the years seemd to have vastly over rated mpg figures

then i did see one in an audi to scotland and back that actually did slightly more and he was doing the last 5 miles on no fuel
