C250 amg saloon rattle in boot

Hi. Had my C250 for 12 months and put up with this annoying rattle within the boot. It only appears at slow speed when I go over a bump. I climbed into the boot yesterday while my girlfriend drove it and it actually sounds like it’s coming from inside the boot lid on the near side. Before I strip the interior trim off, has anybody else had this problem and if so, what was the cause. thanks

Warning triangles are sometimes attached to the boot lid - could this be loose? When trying to find annoying rattles I systemically ensure everything I can remove is removed.

My son had an annoying "clunk" when changing gear and the transmission took up the strain. I drove it and found a bottle of water under the driver's seat which was rolling back and forth as he accelerated...

Remove everything , might as well give it a clean if necessary , and go from there .

I had this on mine. It was a piece of a kind of black tarmac like matting used in the factory. I could move the boot lid by hand quickly and hear it sliding about inside.
