Hi all, I currently own a c250 cdi and it has a rattle on a cold start for around 3 seconds and then it stops. Been told by a garage it could be the timing chain tension needs sorting. Has anyone ever had this problem? If I keep using the car in the mean time like this what could happen?

The car now and again looses a bit of power at 70mph but not limp mode. When plugged into STAR is came up with ‘ there is an internal control fault in the monitoring function for the fuel injectors. There is an implausible signal’ has anyone ever heard of this and know what needs to be done to address the problem as the garage wasn’t too clued up.

Thank you all in advance

Quite possibly. This can OM651 engine I believe and they can suffer timing chain issues.
What can happen? The chain can jump teeth and cause pistons and valves to touch which can be expensive.

An implausible signal is one that's outside the bounds of what the SCU expects to see. For example if the airflow says the throttle is closed but the throttle position is wide open.
You need to find a good Mercedes specialist to have it properly diagnosed.

Could this be because of a fuel filter do you think?

I’ve tried two Mercedes specialist and both been rubbish. Need to book another one.

Thank you for your reply.

No idea as I don't have access to all the information.
Where are you - maybe we can suggest a specialist.

I’m based in Birmingham West Midlands, I don’t mind travelling a bit to a good garage.
