Hi so I’m new here and new to Mercedes! Having a bit of a problem. Car went into limp and engine light on felt like a pipe off or something similar. Was almost certain it would be pipe from intercooler could hear air from passenger side when driving so got it plugged it didn’t see the code however it said something along the lines of air leak detected from intake. So thought great. Stripped it back pipe fitted both sides clips both okay and couldn’t see and splits. So now I’m baffled... anything obvious I should check? I’m thinking of getting it smoke tested or just replacing the pipe incase there’s a pin hole i maybe couldn’t see

Could be the inlet manifold common issue on the 250s.

Intake manifold is common. With a torch you can peep down behind the oil filter housing. The finned aluminium body of the oil cooler is way down there. If it’s black and oily it’s pretty likely the manifold is your problem

good info mate will take a look tomorrow! I thought about inlet manifold but at 90k miles would hope that was a bit unlikely :/ if it is that then I hope my warranty will cover it!

My inlet manifold went at around 110k was a sheered bolt. I also heard a air whooshing sound coming from the bonnet when I put my foot down.

yeah just looking now can see a few runs of oil on the cooler. Will be really disappointed if it is manifold but can’t help that if it is... still tempted to try a boost pipe for the price of it but the leak is 100% passenger side can’t hear a thing drivers side

so I can see some oil on the cooler which backs up your theory however the hissing sounds more like it’s under the power steering reservoir... what I have noticed now is front end has been bumped and to be fair repaired painted etc. But I’m seeing evidence of a little bump passenger side which not sure if coincidence but that’s my noise side... it’s not the intercooler noise isn’t that far forward but doesn’t seem far enough back to be manifold. I’m gonna soap the boost pipe tomorrow see if it blows bubbles and try again. What an annoying start to ownership!!!
