Morning all-My C280 is just perfect, but my friend owns a C250 Turbodiesel, 1998, R Reg Facelift. He seems to have a bit of a flat spot around 1800-2000 rpm regardless of which gear he is in. Has anyone else experienced this on a C250 TD? Or, does anyone have any idea what may be causing this and/or the remedy? Any helf greatly appreciated-Thanks.

Hi

Lift the bonnet with the engine running and watch the see through fuel pipes around the filter housing as you rev the engine. If you see bubbles in the fuel lines this is more than likely where your problem lies.
There could be 6 or so of these preformed pipes around the engine and they suck in air at the joints. Some say it is best to replace all of them others try covering the joints in grease one by one to see if the car goes any better. These fuel lines hate being disturbed and the problem often arises after work has been carried out.
MB also do a small in line electric pump to help eliminate the problem which is common.

Guy Greenwell, Re flat spot

Hi
when I bought my C250 Turbodiesel, I too noticed what I took to be a huge flat spot at pulling away from junctions, especially after my Alfa 164.
I have since found this to be due to my habit of holding the car on the footbrake with my left foot to prevent it form creeping, then releasing the brake and pressing the accelerator.
Thedelay is due to the drive by wire system of throttle control where even just touching the brake pedal cuts out the action of the accelerator it seems.
Hope this is of use
Regards
Guy.
