hi all, thinking of changing from my w202 c250td estate to a w203 c220 cdi around 51 plate. are these engines/common rail systems reliable if maintained well ? my c250 feels solid built but a bit old style looking but i'm worried i'll regret changing it for newer shape. opinions appreciated please. thanks shaun

Hi marra,
I've no experience of CDI engines myself (not yet :)) but there's quite a few people of here who've put some serious miles on them with no problems.

Hi shaungriff,

I am in exactly the same boat as you, I am upgrading my C250 TD on a P plate with 175,000 mioles on the clock - it is 100% reliable, other than 1 glow plug and regular servicing it has cost me nothing since buying it with 55,000 on the clock.

I have just bought (but not taken delivery yet) a C220cdi (xplate 2001)it looks great but will it be as reliable - who knows, it's just a matter of time.

Take the plunge and upgrade yours.

Mark
