Indeed. I think it would be better if they were required to use the vehicle on the roads for a week then take average figures...

Yes & no, because of them we have lower VED and I can get 83mpg average in my E220 on a run so they're not that far out. People need to understand that they are set in ideal conditions and not real world.

The new RDE tests will hopefully fix the misleading figures. (RDE - Real driving experience).

It is the emissions that drive the VED is it not? Rather than the MPG

Yes but MPG and emissions go hand in hand hence if the artificial test allows for unrealistic MPG it will also generate artificially good CO2.

One thing I am curious about is whether CO2 figures include a DPF regen cycle.....
