Hi

Recently purchased a nearly 3 year old C250CGI BlueEfficiency Sport estate.

I've noticed that sometimes, when cold starting, you get a LOT of white smoke (steam?) from the exhaust for a couple of minutes (less if you drive straight off).

It seems worse if car is in garage overnight (probably as I have to do a fiddly reverse out - rather than driving straight off).

I do mostly short stop/start (local) trips, so wondered if this is down to build up of moisture/condensation in the exhaust? (I chose a petrol, due to low mileage covered).

It's booked in with the dealer tonight (under warranty), so they can check it out but wondered if any other C250CGI owners have experienced similar?

Regards
Phil

Initially it sounds to me like condensation in the exhaust. If the vehicle has been used for mainly local, short journeys then there will be quite a build up in the exhaust. A nice long journey would help clear it.

Obviously if the engine was overheating or losing coolant then that would point to something more serious.

You're probably right - mechanic said as much this afternoon but their going to check it over anyhow. Did a fast run back from Gatwick last week followed by a couple of days of local pottering. Then put in garage overnight and back to white smoke next morning.

Me thinks I'll stop putting it in the garage!!!LOL

Rotters have given me a brand new C180 loan car. (why do they always give you something newer - to tempt you???)

It's pretty good actually - not as sharp as the C250 but better than the previous version 180 that I tested before buying mine. Impressed with the stop/start too - very smooth and quick to fire back up.

You see - they've already got me thinking about the next one!
