Hello all ,

I own a 1994 C250 D

My problem :-

The EDC light is on and the RPM meter is off car runs smoothly starts like a baby.

There was this common wiring issue were the outer casing of the wires were disolved with cracks (NOT BURN) so i carefully replaced the wires.

This issue of EDC was there from a long time should comeon and go off and when the EDC light comes on the RPM meter go to zero but the car is running fine.

Any advice shall be good ???

Thanx

It won't be driven by vacumn. As a diesel, it won't be driven by the coil,(as there is none) so guess
it's driven off sensors from either the ECU or teh injectors ?
By the way, what is a EDC light ?

Most likely using either a camshaft or crankshaft sensor or most possibly both:???:

Your tachometer is fed from terminal 14 of the engine electronic control module; you don't say if your car is auto or manual; if it is an auto the K106 kickdown relay is also connected to this terminal and this may be the first item to check. The relay is located in front of the ecus in the nearside rear compartment under the bonnet.

C22 will check it.

Just came back from the workshop they say it could be the cable going to the injector pump.

What do you think ?

Sorry, I have no knowledge of diesel injection pumps, a specialist subject.
