I know this is a vague question, but I am looking at running costs for about 10k a year of everyday driving for tyres, I would look at a mid range tyre and not something costing £250 based on 17-18" rims.

Vredestein Ultracs worth looking at
Loads in here have Uniroyal RS3 and rave about them

Can you get the Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3's in your size? Or how about Michelin Pilot Sport's?

I don't have the car yet, just looking into running costs etc. Thanks for the recommendation.

Seriously. I put my E320 on those on JBell’s recommendation, and do not regret it in the slightest.

Avon ZV7 are fine, same as Continental with general driving. Look tike the same mileage as well.

I have RS3s on both my 210 and my 500SL. The SL is now on its second set the first set having survived 15k miles on it.
They would have been replaced with something else if I hadn't been happy with them and the 210 would never have got them.

I am on my 3rd pair of rears and second pair of fronts, really can't fault them, pay around £300 a set on 18" (225/40 front and 255/35 rear)

While we're on tyres, I'm picking up a new (to me) car tomorrow and I asked the dealer to send me the latest service info. They put on four new tyres with the service and they are Nexen; anybody had any experience of them?

Never had Nexens to be honest, although they get reasonable reviews on Oponeo for a mid range tyre

I had Nexens on my X Trail. I forget which model. They wore well and I never had any grip problems with them.

Thanks lads, I was vaguely concerned they may have been a budget tyre, but that puts my mind at rest.

Nexen are a Korean brand. Pretty solid mid range performer.
