Hi
Can anyone help have so many different answers on this.
Has anyone take off there mufflers on this model car? I have spoke with some custom shops and they suggest to do this first?
I've heard of straight pipes, x pipes?
Very confused on the Matter I know it's never going to sound like a petrol, but if the sound could be a bit beefier would be great.
Ang advice greatly welcome

Thanks

X-pipes are for V8s. They'll do nothing for yours.
X-pipes use the double pulse of exhaust inherent in the firing order of a cross plane V8 to create a partial vacuum in the exhaust manifold to help draw exhaust out. A V6 doesn't have a double pulse in the firing order and you have two turbos which means there is always positive pressure in the exhaust manifold.
As for removing mufflers it'll make it louder but not nicer. It's a diesel. With turbos. They don't respond in the same way as a petrol because they work in a different way.

It’s never going to sound anything other than a relatively big turbodiesel. Exhaust mods won’t do anything other than to make it sound even more like a relatively big turbodiesel.

So we're saying don't mess around with the exhaust system.
I don't want to play around with it and regret even attempting it

We're saying play with it if you want but you won't get the results you might be expecting and don't bother with x-pipes or h-pipes.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Active sound is an option, but there's good and bad examples out there.

Any decent exhaust tuner out there will make a system for you and improve the sound and possibly the performance.

Have spoke to a custom exhaust garage today they suggest cutting off the back boxs and see how it sounds,
Then they can modify from there?
Too be fair like westheath says there's good and bad ones online.
It's the bad ones that's making me question doing it .
And the good ones swaying me to try it.

Not exactly, I had my Cats removed which made a nice difference without changing the sound too much, little deeper but not noticable unless you had another 270 next to it.
Afraid I can't recomend one close to you, I had mine done by Imran at Tourqueflow in Birmingham

I’ve had both rear boxes taken off and custom pipes made with AMG style tips... I think it sounds better imo

Do you have a video of how it sounds?
