C350e 2017
I recently purchased a 2017 C350e with 15,000 miles on the clock
It is a superb car and I love driving it, however, I cannot get the hybrid battery to charge more than 9 miles. Occasionally, it will go to 10/11 but not very often.
I took it back to Mercedes Dorchester, they had it for a couple of days and said that everything was working as it should, nothing wrong with it. They could not charge it any higher however, but said it would improve depending on driving style...it hasn't.

I am not a novice with hybrids, I chopped in an Audi A3 Etron for this and I regularly got 30 miles electric range over 3 years.

Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks

Is the 350e a phev?? My memory is that its a serial hybrid - if so you are doing well to get 9m from it!

Usually serial hybrids have 1-5kw batteries, PHEV is 5-15kw and full battery 50kw+

What is the battery capacity in KW?

Welcome and as above, you will never see much more than about 15 miles on these, and only then with summer high ambient temperatures. They are a PHEV.
Cold battery will be lucky to see 9 miles, the capacity is only 6.2kw, your Audi from memory would have been 8.8kw

My Ki Soul ev does 4.1m per KW in the summer and 2.9 m per kw in winter (with heater and seats / wheel turned on. So assuming 3m per KW I would hope to see 15m maybe - however the Kia is way better than many - except Tesla, many only get 2.5m per KW - which would still suggest 12-15 m.

I would think that 9m is pretty decent, but you will see that improve come spring / summer.

I had a PHEV, but found even 30m range wasn't enough and chopped it in for full electric - wouldn't want to go back now.

Your Audi was a full PHEV - I fear the Merc is more a very long range serial hybrid rather than a full PHEV - what range do Merc quote?

Thanks for the reply
it is a phev with a 6.2 kw battery. Reading other reviews on it, some say it's so short a range that it's hardly worth charging, others say they get up to 19 miles sometimes. I wonder if the garage would deny a problem with the battery due to the replacement cost

Thanks, 15 miles , I could only dream about. I have had the car since September 2020, it has never gone above 9, even when warm

Thanks, I was looking at a BMW i3, but then had a vision of me driving it with a red hat with bell on it . Couldn't buy it after that

Thats an odd one - neither PHEV or FHEV really somewhere in the middle. Very poor elec range if they claim PHEV

Claimed range is 19 Miles, it is less than half that.

My Leaf (second but sometimes main car) is £250/month on lease and gets 168 miles fully charged (not as smug as above but nearly so), after 2 years they can have it back

I think 200m+ is the cut off for me - anything over that and the car is perfectly practical as an only car, below that, I would feel uncomfortable

Have you actually covered 168 miles on a charge?
Or even 160 giving 8 miles to get to your charger?

Nope, probably never will either - the car barely covers 15 miles a day !!

So why don’t you drive it for 11 days before charging it... let us know how accurate that range is... ;)

Our ZoE does about 4.8-4.9 mpkwh in the summer and around 3.5-3.8mpkwh in the winter, I can sometimes push 5+ depending on the journey type.
