Hi,
I have in previous posts mentioned an itermittent problem I have with my electric front seats in my C43. When they work, they both operate perfect with no key in the ignition.
When they pack up they both pack up and the door mounted switches are completely dead.
I have checked all circuit fuses and fuse box all ok.
I have come to the conclusion that i have control module fault as I believe the power to the seats is switched through it.
According to my wiring drawings it seems to be only one common module (this is assuming each seat has its own module) and that is the the CF Control module mounted in the boot.
Is this more commonly referred to as the Comfort control?
If so what is its purpose?
Does anybody know anything about this module?
Am I right to assume that both seats have their individual seat control relays?

Sorry. I can't offer yo any advice, but I'm surprised that you can use the seat controls without any key in the ignition.

On my E class the seats will only work in that without a key for a short period after I turn off the ignition but before I leave the vehicle, otherwise its always ignition on.

Are yours packing up even when the ignition is on?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes when the seats pack up, they pack up completely neither seat works with key in out of ignition with ignition on/off etc. totally dead.
I think it must be this CF Control module thing because apart from 2 of the fuses nothing else appears to be common to both seats.
When the seat was working without the key in the ignition the drivers door was open this might make a difference as on my other car the front doors being open would put power on the windows even with keys out of the ignition.
The two stage seat heating works perfectly as does the Orthopedic side of the seats.
I,m a bit peed off because everytime I try to fault find the seats they work, and when i want them to work they don,t. :(

I suspect its a loose connection somewhere. Control units don't often fault occasionly. Most of the time they fault its permanant.

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies so far.
Well I was looking at some other wiring drawings and I have now found out what the CF stands for in CF control module "Convenience Feature".
I believe it puts power on the seats, windows and Sunroof when the front/doors are open and the ignition is off. When I went to the car this morning I opened the the drivers door and immediatly operated the seat and low and behold it worked, I sat in the car shut the door seats not working, open the door again and they worked, shut they don,t.
This does tally with the fact that my windows don,t operate like my C230K they work with either front door open.
So I do believe I have either a loose connection on the CF unit, the relay which feeds the CF module is U/S.
Can anyone confirm the operation of their windows/sunroof/seats in relation to the doors and ignition.
Any 210, 202, and possibly 208 chassis, circa 1998-2000 "should" operate the same way.
Any thoughts, replies most welcome.

Hi,
Well I believe my seats are fixed now (touch wood) the relay that controls the feed to both seats I found but I could,nt find the CF module anywhere in the boot so where the coil feed for the relay comes from god only knows.
Unplugging and plugging in the relay seems to have solved my problem (fingers crossed).
Power seat relay was Pt. No. 002 542 22 19

Hi,
I think the CF module is on the pre face lift cars. The wiring drawing I was using was for an earlier model, I did,nt think there would be to much difference.
more fool me :(
