The G3 glasscoat from a dealer is around £400.
However, the valeter I use charge £199 (which includes a mini valet, normally charged at £40).
It's well worth it, as the dirty rain water just slips off the paintwork, thus not having to wash the car as often!!
They are based near J26 of the M1.
RC

Hi Red, great news... Bargain if you ask me, I've wasted £50 already in car washes, UK weather :)

Whats the company called?

It is worth while, as it interior as well as exterior.

Assuming it's OK to say who they are on the forum, they are called Mint Car Enhancements. They are really nice guys, and have a brand spanking unit where they do allsorts!

Get it booked in!!

Done about 500 miles in my new C 350 Cdi . Getting about 35-36 on a mixed run. Have tried to run it in correctly, have definitely not thrashed it but an 2 or 3 occasions have let the revs hit 4,000 for a second or two. I don't believe that this can do any real damage, what does anyone else think?

When I asked the dealer I bought it off about running in he said that it didn't really need to be done but to keep below 4,000 revs for the first 2 or 3 hundred miles.

I really don't think this matters! I asked the same of my dealer, he just said don't worry the engines are fine from the get go... I got mine up to temp when I got it and gave her a good boot... 2k later she's fine and going even better...

That's what warranties are for :)

I think if you run the car for 300,000 miles you may notice a difference of 0.01%!

My car goes back in 3 years with 45k on it...like every vehicle i have ever owned its being driven hard from mile 1.

Not a C, but I have an E350, and treated it with the upmost of care running it in. Got 1200 miles on it now and am getting returns of 45+ on a run and 25-30 in crawling rush hour.

I know that a lot of other E350 owners are really struggling to get anywhere near this so I have wondered whether my over protective treatment of it has helped or not.

plenty of evidence would suggest the opposite...that running in to soft is not good.

I have read both and agree it's hard to know which is right, so went by what the MB manual for the car said and drove calmly for the first 1k or so.

A diesel red lines at 4k, so if mb say drive upto 4k you have most of the rev range.

What I would do is more or less per Malcolms post.

Run gently when cold, once warm drive swiftly but sensibly, minding not to go above 4k revs, and keep things smooth as per normal road driving. I would avoid harsh reving in gears 1-2 initially just to allow bedding in.

They have put the new 350 CDI engine (higher performance, lower emmissions, lower consumption) in the E-Class and the S-Class. Hopefully, they will put it in the C-CLass soon too.

Worth asking the dealer if they know when MB will make the switch?

C350 CDI Estate
Hi Guys, Just bought a Dec 2009 350 Estate with under 9k on the clock, test drove it at the dealer and loved it and got it for what I thought was a pretty good deal, so picking it up next week.

Had been looking at an A4 3.0 Quattro (too small a boot for the dog) or an A6 3.0 Quattro (thought it was looking a bit dated compared to the new A4), or the Range Rover Sport (but that reminded me too much of an ex g/f, bit on the big side and drinks too much ;).

It's got command, leather etc so pretty well spec'd. Just hoping I've made the right decision: confused:.

It's not the Blue Efficiency model, one of the last of the pre-BE ones but anyone reckon I will be missing out a great deal by not having that one? Or are there any advantages of the pre-BE over the later ones? My first concern is that I'll be losing a few mpg's (and a couple of horses) but is the blurb that accurate?

To go for a similar car same miles and a few months newer with the BE badge would have cost me another £3k or so.

Can sometimes be a bit of a worry spending a load of dosh on a new car, and last time I had a Merc its was an ML (270CDi), 2 years old from a main dealer and spent more time in the workshop than out. Hope I'll get better reliability this time fingers crossed. I'll post a pic or two up after I collect it and I'll let you know my thoughts on it next week.

Any tips you have or gotcha's you've found would be appreciated, especially if anyone has the reversing camera, after market reversing sensors fitted, or any experience with towing electrics. Should I go with a main dealer plug and play kit or a towbar specialist kit ?? The bar itself is not a problem, will ft another removeable Brink one on as have had great service from these in the past.

Regards,

Roy.

I don't think the 350cdi was anything but a BE model. Its a 231bhp engine and in a C class ****ing fast and economical. High 30's will be easily attainable at progressive UK speeds.

Thanks for the message ST4, I took a look on the Parkers site and it mentioned the 350CDI production to end December 2009, and the BE model from 1st December 2009 to date, looks like the BE model has a couple more horses and does a few more to the gallon., but like I said they were another £3k or so used.

Pleased to hear that it is a pretty quick / economical car relatively speaking, it certainly did pull like a train when I test drove it, but was in town so difficult to get it up through the gears and give it a good blast, but as it's 12 months old from an MB dealer and with another 2 years manufacturers warranty, it does give me a bit of peace of mind...

Regards,

Roy.

Aye, for 2mpg you'd be mad to spend £3k more. Being non BE the car you have may well be rather sought after

1. No DPF from memory
2. No "de coupling device"

DPFs are expensive to maintain and in reality hinder MPG more than than the blue efficiency measures recoup.

The decoupling device means the car is sluggish if stopped as the car is in D, but in reality to save a gram of fuel the car disengages its drive. Sluggish get aways.

So Roy, if in 2-3 years you ever decide to sell it, can you PM me, as I would be genuinely interested in your car. (A c class esate would fit me nicely)

Hi all,

I have bought another C class W204 and this time I chose the C350 CDI sports with 18' alloys, leather seats, commands with the large navigation screen and in Tenorite Grey. Car is only just 1 year old with only 11k mileage. And I am picking it up tomorrow lunch time!! Can't wait to see it and have fun...

I am part exchanging my current c class w204 220 cdi sport with this new one.
I have to say that it is a great car and I truly enjoyed it from the start to finish, but I am seeking a bigger engine and thought whilst I can afford why not swapping it with the C350...

Will post some photos as soon as possible.

Here is the new car! Now have got for over a week and there is a big difference between my predecessor C220 CDI sport (which I truly enjoyed whilst I had it) to this V6 engine: It is quite remarkable how smooth and quiet the car is when you drive gently within speed limit (ie 30mph). But when you start pushing the accelerator then you feel the car has soul and oh my god the sound of V6 is superb! I used to play the music loud when driving with my other c class, now it is different i put the music on low volume so that I can hear the engine growling! And what a pleasure driving it with the 7g tronic gearbox. Best thing i have ever done! The suspensions are also improved and is a lot more smooth - hardly feel any bumps and it is a c class sport! See a few pics of this new baby...
Love it love it.....:):):):):):):):):):):)

Well done Nicolas - great car, and I am delighted that you are enjoying it.

Interested to hear that you have toned down the radio - some of us drive with the radio off for exactly this reason!

Well, you don't know until you see what it is driving a bigger engine! And to add more to it, i am also surprised how similar the consumption is with the C220 cdi...

Glad to be part of this group who do not need to put the music loud!

I would be interested to learn your actual mpg so I can compare it to my C. 220 cdi which had averaged 41mpg over its 30k life. I may be looking at your choice of change also!
