thinking of buying a C180 estate,P plate. Its been mercedes serviced since new, it has 80, 000 on the clock. As far as i'm aware, it has never had the cam belt replaced. Anyone know when and if cam belt needs changing and what do you think of the price, 1700, 0no?

You will not find a Mercedes with a cam belt.

They all use chains. (all duplex since the 80s)

You timing chain will out last your car.

Well, there is a belt for all the accessories and it is important to ensure that is changed and in good condition, as otherwise the car could loose all essential control facilites like power steering, battery charging, water pump etc etc. Easy to do yourself, normally.
