camshaft ???

Hi to all a general question with regards to camshaft belt/chain??
how often do they need to be changed,i am thinking about going with the aa breakdown people for cover against breakdown and the cost of repair the vehicle was serviced april 2008 but i looked in the service book and there is no mention of change of camshaft belt/chain??
the car as done 11200 miles e320 avantguard 1997 w210
