hi all
Having parked my 129 sl 320 for a month i returned to find the speedo did not work the garage have told me its the instrement cluster and quoted 1200 pounds any one know of any where that repairs them

lets start again the VIN number first 6 numbers please

The speedo head is separate on this car right up to the end 129064 car

the possible causes ar the inductive road speed sensor or the speed signal from theABS or ASR control unit N30

All in all it is not the cluster, as I said earlier the speedo head is a separate unit, I would think that you only have a poor connection some where. I do not know how you will find it without the test gear, start by unplugging the module mentioned above and re inserting.

thanks malcom thats what i think at the garage they took out my dash and fitted one from another car and it worked when they put mine back in it worked for a while but seemed to be dampered then it stopped working after about 8 miles

OK they are easy to work on and the speedo unplugs from the board, I feel it will be a crack in the PCB, but that can be bridged. what ever you do not need the whole thing, I repaired one 2 weeks ago, after I found a definite fault.
