- CLK230/A208/2000
Hello Everyone,
The saga of my CLK continues. I have shelved this for a while out of disgust and trying to get my head cleared from all the faults this car keeps showing up.
The basic issues seem to be based on sensors (MAP, Coolant Temp Sensor etc) all showing up as "Short or open circuit" completely randomly and in spite of changing sensors at least twice with brand new units.
I am now thinking that maybe the 5v supply from the Engine ECU is at fault, having been previously soaked with oil as a result of the dreaded loom wicking issue (which has been addressed). I have removed the ECU and checked the Mercedes EPC which states the part no (based on my chassis no) as A 111 153 19 79. Just for clarification, the car is a CLK 230 Kompressor, A208, 2000 Facelift Model.
This is where my concern starts as the one in the car is actually A 111 153 36 79. According to the Mercedes EPC, this ECU is actually for a C230 2002 Model. This means that somewhere along the line, the ECU has been swapped for the wrong one. Based upon my research into the ECU, as far as I'm aware, the ECU is not interchangeable from Model to Model and the ECU in the car isn't listed as a superseded Part number for the one that should be there.
My question is this ...
I am aware that the main immobiliser EEPROM can be changed from ECU to ECU. Do I get the correct one for the car and swap this EEPROM from the C230 one (is that even possible ?) or do I replace with the C230 one as fitted and just swap the EEPROM to avoid having to recode the replacement? (I don't have STAR and the car can't be moved at present)
Over to you good people for some input.
Kind Regards
