Can anyone help with my vibration on my 500sl?

ive got a 1991 500sl with a vibration about 70mph ive had the wheels balanced but did not cure the problem also there is a slight whinning from the rear end sounds like its coming from the driveshaft/propshaft. could they be linked ?
also the vibtration feels like its under my seat.

could anybody help me please.

There is a lagre coupling between the box and the prop shaft just about under the front seats thats were i would look first

thank you i will have look, but how will i tell if its worn? will there play? if it is worn are they easy to replace yourself? i am a novice mechanic!!!!

It's quite easy to change the centre bearing. If you search around the forum I did mine a while back. I had to take the shaft to the dealer to get the bearing pressed off though.

You might want to try and give the UV joint a couple of sharp taps with a hammer. Because the joint only moves through a small angle, the needles get jammed up and sometimes need to be loosend.

If the UV joints are damaged you will need to take it to a propshaft man and he will be able to fit some circlip joints (the originals are pressed in)
