can i change from 15 inch to 17 inch without any adjustments

Advice required.
can i change the alloy wheels on my 1998 c-class elegance
from 15 inch to 17 inch without any adjustments being made to the speedo or the cruise control ?

You will need to fit lower profile tyres to maintain the same rolling radius. Here is a calculator to help you work out the profile you will need:

Thankyou Malcolm,i cannot put low profiles on it,a friend of mine put low profiles on his c 240 , it rattled the engine mounts to bits,requiring new ones.
I'll be looking for the same size i expect.olen

Many experts now advise not to fit bigger wheels on a C class as it ruins the handling/ride balance.

You can't change the size of the wheel, but not the profile of the tyre!

As you know by the fact you are asking the question, this will alter the overall diameter and therefore will make your speedo etc inacurate.

I doubt 17" wheels (with the correct size rubber) will cause a problem as the AMG C-Class models (and many non AMG cars with the AMG wheels) came with 17" alloys. Numerous people I know have 17 and 18" alloys without any trouble.

The experts are wrong with their advice about bigger tyres on C CLasses - as long as you fit the right gear, it should be fine... Bigger alloys will need bigger tyres with different profiles - just dont go crazy on spring settings if u need to lower the car (as u would to fill out the arches)

Thats when handling and ride gets knackered big time ...
