Hello,

Just wondering if when I lock my ML the mirrors can fold in on the remote? My dads do on his newer E-class?

I guess if it can be done its a dealer re program?

Its a 163 version of the ML

Thanks

You can ask the dealer to do it when its in for service, the option should be there, but can only be done on a diagnosis set up

In my experience this option is not available in the ML class, but if it is then it will be on the dashboard settings. Check your dashboard settings and see. If its not there the star d will not be of any use,

This is incorrect as it does not have to be in the menu. This has been covered many times.

If the feature is not in the system to start with, how can you activate it? and i do have star d. He is talking about ML and its never been a feature on this range. Prove me wrong and he would be happy.

Thanks People,

Sorry to cause a bit a debate...

On my previous car even though the remote would come out of the factory with your standard lock, unlock, windows up / down when you took this to the dealer they could add all sorts of features.

lights on, roof open / shut, mirrors folding etc etc

thanks

Scott

Dont say sorry, instead phone the dealers and ask them. Im sure they will tell you what can and cant be done. Its a simple phone call.

As Television says get your dealer to program it. It wasn't an option on my C class but with access to Star it has been enabled. Now I can select if I want this or not in the convenience menu

Hi Malcolm, how are you sir?

Will this option to fold my mirrors automatically be available for me too when I close the car?
(S320 ...2001)

Thanks :D

I am fine thank you Chas:
If the car has the switch for manually folding then it should be possible to do it with the locking. It is an argumentative subject as this was standard in some countries and some years.
It needs some one with STAR or the equivalent to go into the menu and look.

There are many post on this forum where this has been done. Cant say more than that.

Ive been into the menu today on star D and yes Malcolm is correct, on certain models (depending on the Chassis no) operations that are not in the instrument cluster menu can be activated. I stand corrected.

Does this mean that any Merc with electric folding mirrors and remote locking can have this function programmed, so that it is included in the total closure function?

Ask your dealer or indie with a diagnostic set up to see if they can program it in for you

As I said it depends on the VIN (chassis no) but yes certain cars can be programmed. Check with the dealer, it only takes a phone call and you will have to give them your VIN no. They may say no straight away as the know some models (regardless of VIN) cannot be programmed, so try it.

Like you said before, I think it is the joke of the year

No, not on your car.

The option to do this only came along when the MOST based systems were introduced. For the C class this was cars built after April 2004, CLK was June 2004. The Other cars were a little earlier than this.

Basically any MOST based car with folding mirrors can be programmed to auto fold when the car is locked. The option becomes a selectable item in the menu in the cluster so you can turn it on and off as desired. I've enabled it may times ;)
