Hello all, as the title suggests I was wondering if I can grease the U Js on each end of the propshaft on my E300d estate, I have vibration (not front end) that starts at 65mph.

Its going in for a 4 wheel balance and if that doesn't solve the problem I will move onto the drivetrain.

I had another rear wheel drive car with a similar vibration that started at 50 mph and that was traced down to the U J's

So I thought before I change them I might pump them full of grease, if possible...

So can I do it? and if I can will I need the grease nipples that screw into the middle of the joints?

If they are knackered, is it a big job for the home mechanic? (fairly well equipped) and where is the best place to source the parts?

Any advice gratefully recieved, I'm doing a 2000 mile journey in a couple of weeks and would like it to be perfect, you know how it is... :D

Prop UJs

I'm getting a sense of deja vu on this post! I'm sure this was covered about 2 weeks ago...

There is a UJ in the centre of the prop and doughnuts at each end. You can grease the former (I assume) but not the latter

I wouldn't suspect the prop at first. I'd look elsewhere - there's plenty to vibrate at speed as there are lots of rubber bushes lurking under a W124
